Customs Collaborates DG TAXUD EU For Efficient Export Monitoring, Trade Facilitation   The Nigeria Customs Service (NC) has collaborated with the Directorate General Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) of the European Union (EU) for efficient export monitoring and trade facilitation.  During a meeting that took place at the Corporate Headquarters of NCS on February 27, 2024, the Comptroller General of  Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, announced that the service is collaborating with DG TAXUD for efficiency in Export Monitoring and documentation.  With the Nigeria Customs Service as the competent authority for rules of origin, the Comptroller General assured that the Service will do all it can to facilitate the process, adding that peace will prevail if trade is permitted to flourish. **NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KOGI, CLEAR IPOB/ESN ENCLAVE IN OGUTA, QUELL DEADLY ATTACK IN NASARAWA* Nigerian Army Troops have on Monday 26 February 2024  successfully rescued 10 passengers onboard  a Peace Mass Transit Bus kidnapped while traveling from Calabar to Abuja in Kogi State. The rescue operation took place at Ogugu Community along Enugu-Kogi Road in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State. Responding to a distress call, the troops swiftly mobilized to the scene of the kidnap incident, where the kidnappers had demobilized a Peace Mass Transit bus, abducted the passengers and moved them into the nearby Ette forest. Customs Adamawa/Taraba Command Records Seizures Worth Over N13M The Nigeria Customs Service, Adamawa/Taraba Area Command, has recorded seizures of assorted items worth over N13 million. The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Salisu Abdullahi, made this known at a press briefing on Friday, 24 February, 2024, in Yola, Adamawa State Capital.  He explained that the command recorded fifteen incidents of seizures of assorted items with a Cumulative Duty Paid Value (DV) of thirteen Million, three hundred and fifty-two thousand, One hundred naira only (N13,352,100.00). The seized items include; 16, 675Litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) packed in 643×25L Jerry Cans and 3 x 200L drums, 20× 50kg bags of foreign parboiled rice and One used Volks Wagon Golf with a big reconstructed fuel tank. Customs Arrests a Cameroonian with Pistol, 52 Elephant Tusks in Mfum The Nigeria Customs Service announced on Monday, 12 February 2024, the arrest of a Cameroonian found with a pistol, live ammunition, and 52 units of elephant tusks in Mfum, a border town in the Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River. The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Cross River/CFTZ/Akwa Ibom Command, Comptroller Ahmed Waziri, revealed this information during a news conference in Calabar. Comptroller Waziri stated that the arrest occurred on Thursday, 8 February 2024, by NCS operatives in Mfum. The seized elephant tusks, weighing 200kg, were valued at N300 million. According to Waziri, a Cameroonian named Mohammed Ibrahim was apprehended with a pistol, live ammunition, and 52 elephant tusks.
