August Protest:  PTD- NUPENG Raises Alarm Over Infiltration * Dismisses Leadership Crisis Ahead of August 1 planned hunger protest by Nigerian Youths, the national secretariat of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) of Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has raised alarm over perceived infiltration of its ranks. The suspected individuals were allegedly bent on making themselves available to promote the planned national unrest. National Chairman, PTD- NUPENG,  Comrade Augustine Egbon, disclosed this in a press statement in Abuja. TROOPS NEUTRALIZE 2 TERRORISTS IN AMBUSH OPERATION IN KADUNA, CAPTURE ARMS  Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for counter terrorism operations in Kaduna State have successfully neutralized 2 terrorists and captured their arms in a swift and decisive ambush operation conducted in the earlyhours of Wednesday 24 July 2024.  The troops responding to actionable intelligence, executed a well-coordinated ambush along the Tasha-Bwari Road, a vital link between Gurara town in Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists, while others straggled away with gunshot wounds. The operation led to the recovery of arms and valuable intelligence, including an AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 27 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 2 machetes, 2 mobile phones, and the sum of N80,000 only, along with other supplies. OIL THEFT: IGP APPOINTS NEW COMMANDER FOR PETROLEUM TASK FORCE, RESTRUCTURES TEAM FOR EXCELLENT SERVICE DELIVERY

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, in his continuous effort to combat pipeline vandalism and oil theft, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Bayonle Kafar Sulaiman, as the new Commanding Officer in charge of the Inspector-General of Police Special Task Force on Petroleum And Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB). The new Commander, who has exhibited his prowess in similar taskforce operations, was previously Squadron Commander, Police Mobile Force 20, Lagos.
