LAGOS POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTED AIYE CULT MEMBERS, RECOVER LOCALLY MADE PISTOL, LIVE AMMUNITION IN MUSHIN

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity cult group and recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and a 9mm live ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Mushin.

The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected cult groups operating in the Mushin area of Lagos State.



According to the Command, the operation led to the arrest of Irawo Moshod, who allegedly admitted to being a former chairman of the Aiye Confraternity cult group.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly provided useful information on the activities of the group, including alleged involvement in several killings within Mushin and other parts of Lagos State.

Acting on the information provided, VCRU operatives proceeded to Idi-Oro, Mushin, where they recovered one locally made Beretta pistol and one 9mm live ammunition.

Further investigation led to the arrest of three other suspected members of the group at Aganran by Ojuwoye.

They were identified as Abayomi James, 29; Farouq Bankole, 28; and Steven Sunday, 19.

The Command said the three suspects admitted to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and allegedly disclosed that the recovered firearm was obtained from one Rilwan, whom they identified as the number one member of the group.

The four suspects are currently in Police custody and assisting investigators with ongoing investigations, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the suspected cult group.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives of the VCRU for their proactive and intelligence-driven operation.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, cult groups and other violent crime syndicates across Lagos State.

CP Tijani also warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from criminal activities, stressing that the Police Command would continue to take decisive action against individuals and groups whose activities threaten the safety and security of residents.

He urged residents to continue providing credible information to the Police and other security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.

Gunmen Hijack Funeral Convoy, Abduct Mourners Escorting FRSC Deputy Commander's Body, Demand ₦50m Ransom

A funeral procession conveying the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine O. Ikwue, has been attacked by suspected kidnappers along the Ososo–Ajaokuta axis of Kogi State, with several mourners reportedly abducted. The late officer, popularly known as "Etume Zero," was being transported to his hometown in Benue State for burial when the armed men ambushed the convoy. According to reports, the attackers abducted several mourners and initially took away the corpse of the deceased officer into the bush alongside the victims. Citizen journalist and activist Meddy Olotu disclosed that the kidnappers later abandoned the corpse, which was subsequently recovered near Ejule in Kogi State.
