The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for various acts of professional misconduct while arresting 12 suspects in separate operations targeting illegal arms dealing and the vandalism of critical national infrastructure.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, said the actions demonstrate the NSCDC's unwavering commitment to professionalism, institutional transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and critical national assets.
According to the Corps, disciplinary investigations conducted in line with the Public Service Rules and the NSCDC Conditions of Service led to the conclusion of cases involving 75 personnel. Those sanctioned include one Assistant Commandant General (ACG), two Deputy Commandants (DCs), 35 other senior officers, and 37 junior officers.
The offences established during the investigations include job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave, and other acts considered prejudicial to national security. Sanctions imposed range from dismissal and compulsory retirement to recommendations for criminal prosecution.
Among the cases concluded was the February 18, 2026 operational incident at Rafin Gabas in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, which resulted in the death of Mining Marshals Location Commander, Levi Agada.
Investigations revealed that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms without proper authorization. Both officers have been dismissed from the Corps and recommended for criminal prosecution.
The NSCDC also disclosed that four personnel are currently undergoing disciplinary proceedings by the Commandant General's Special Intelligence Squad (CG's SIS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police over their alleged involvement in illegal arms dealing.
The affected officers are Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi of the Enugu State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna of the Ebonyi State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson of the Ebonyi State Command, and Superintendent Achor Favour of the Nasarawa State Command.
While the first three officers are facing both internal disciplinary measures and criminal prosecution over alleged illegal arms trafficking, Superintendent Achor Favour is undergoing administrative disciplinary proceedings following public concerns over the alleged mistreatment and negligence of a teenage domestic helper, Mercy Hajara Muhammad.
In a related operation, the CG's Special Intelligence Squad arrested nine suspects across Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi, Niger States and the Federal Capital Territory for alleged involvement in illegal firearms and ammunition trafficking.
The suspects were identified as Friday Nnanna Ujor (51), Chika Sampson Nwozaku (48), Nnanna Ujor Chinasa (45), Nnanna Fountain, Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu, as well as the three NSCDC officers already facing disciplinary action.
The Corps also intensified its campaign against the vandalism of critical national assets. On July 25, 2026, operatives arrested six suspected vandals at Sabon Wuse while attempting to transport a trailer-load of stolen railway sleepers.
The stolen railway materials were concealed inside a blue DAF trailer with registration number ZAR 618 XT.
In another operation, two suspected members of a vandalism syndicate, Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe, from Toto and Bassa Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, were arrested for allegedly vandalising electrical cables and related infrastructure in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The NSCDC stressed that the misconduct of the affected personnel does not reflect the professionalism, integrity, and dedication of the overwhelming majority of its officers and men across the country.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing discipline within its ranks while sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements threatening Nigeria's critical national assets and infrastructure.
It added that all suspects and affected personnel remain entitled to their constitutional right to fair hearing as administrative and judicial processes continue.
