SENATE PRESIDENT MEETS WITH PSC LEADERSHIP, EMPHASIZES NEED FOR ADDITIONAL POLICE RECRUITMENT -VOWS SENATE ASSISTANCE.
The leadership of the Police Service Commission recently visited the Senate President, Chief Godswil Akpabio, GCON. During this visit, the Senate President emphasized the necessity for increased recruitment initiatives in response to the nation's security challenges. DIG Hashimu Argungu, retired mni, the Chairman of the Commission, led the delegation and brought to the Senate President’s attention several critical issues affecting its effectiveness, including inadequate funding and the urgent need for a dedicated budget for the Commission. Additionally, DIG Argungu advocated for the establishment of operational Zonal offices to address the geographical difficulties of managing oversight over police officers across 747 local government areas and police stations nationwide.
