The leadership of the Police Service Commission recently visited the Senate President, Chief Godswil Akpabio, GCON. During this visit, the Senate President emphasized the necessity for increased recruitment initiatives in response to the nation's security challenges. DIG Hashimu Argungu, retired mni, the Chairman of the Commission, led the delegation and brought to the Senate President’s attention several critical issues affecting its effectiveness, including inadequate funding and the urgent need for a dedicated budget for the Commission. GERMAN GOVERNMENT COMMITTS TO ENHANCED SUPPORT FOR PSC, URGES INSTITUTIONALIZATION OF POLICE REFORM   The Police Service Commission has secured a commitment from the German Government for increased and sustained support for the ongoing Police Reform initiatives in the country.   On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the Commission's Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni, met with the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Annett Gunther, in Abuja, where he expressed the Commission’s appreciation for the continuous support received from the German Government.  The Akwa Ibom State Police Command  has arrested one Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo, a pastor for allegedly defiling his own daughter over several years.  The victim, now 14, according to the Police  Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John,who addressed the press in Uyo on Monday, had been sexually abused by her father since age of 12.  “We have  arrested one Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo ‘m’, a pastor from Ughelli North LGA, residing in Ibiono Ibom, for defiling his daughter (name withheld).  “Investigations revealed that the suspect had been sexually assaulting the victim since she was 12 years old, with the latest incident occurring in December 2024.
