PSC Pledges Collaboration with Quantity Surveyors to Promote Financial Discipline and Infrastructure Efficiency
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has pledged to partner with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) in promoting cost management excellence, financial discipline, and infrastructure efficiency within the Nigeria Police Force.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Argungu, mni, made this commitment today, June 2, 2025, while receiving a delegation from the Institute led by its President, Kene Nzekwe.
DIG Argungu noted that the Commission is committed to entrenching good governance through prudent and transparent management of its human and material resources, including personnel and physical assets of the Nigeria Police.
He emphasized the need for the inclusion of qualified Quantity Surveyors in the Police to help manage national security infrastructure and enhance service delivery. “The Police requires the expertise of Quantity Surveyors in the effective management of its physical infrastructure,” he stated, reaffirming the Commission’s willingness to work closely with the NIQS.
Earlier, the NIQS President, Kene Nzekwe, said the visit reflects the Institute’s commitment to meaningful collaboration in national development. He lauded the Commission’s pivotal role in enhancing the structure, integrity, and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
“We recognize your leadership in strengthening institutional frameworks and promoting professionalism within the policing ecosystem,” Nzekwe said.
He advocated for greater inclusion of Quantity Surveyors in the administrative and technical departments of the Commission, especially in areas such as infrastructure, police housing, logistics centres, training schools, and command offices.
Nzekwe also proposed key areas for partnership, including project auditing, value-for-money assessments, dispute resolution, and capacity building. These, he noted, would support the PSC’s strategic objectives while fostering accountability, professionalism, and excellence in public resource management.
“We look forward to building a mutually beneficial partnership between the NIQS and the Police Service Commission — one that supports your noble mission and helps deliver impactful outcomes for the Nigerian people,” he concluded.
