A coordinated team of Police tactical units, military personnel, and vigilante groups has been deployed to rescue 25 students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, at about 4:00 a.m., when armed bandits reportedly invaded the school premises. According to initial information, the attackers, wielding sophisticated weapons, shot sporadically as they breached the school’s fence and forced their way into the students’ hostel.
Police operatives stationed at the school responded immediately and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel. However, the criminals succeeded in escaping with twenty-five female students, whisking them away to an unknown location.
Tragically, the incident also claimed the life of Hassan Makuku, while another victim, Ali Shehu, sustained a gunshot injury to his right hand.
Upon receiving the distress report, the Kebbi State Police Command swiftly deployed additional tactical teams alongside military forces and local vigilantes. The combined security teams are currently combing suspected bandits’ routes, adjoining communities, and forested areas in an intensified search-and-rescue mission aimed at safely recovering the abducted students and apprehending the perpetrators.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies as efforts to restore normalcy continue.
Authorities assure the public that every resource is being mobilized to ensure the safe return of the abducted students and to bring the attackers to justice.
