Lagos Police Tighten Noose on Criminal Networks, Arrest 147 in Operation KO S'AYE III


The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its offensive against criminal elements with another major breakthrough under Operation KO S'AYE III, arresting 147 suspects and recovering a cache of ammunition, dangerous weapons and illicit substances during coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts across the state.

The latest operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, followed actionable intelligence that led operatives to several notorious black spots, including Boolar and Super Ile-Epo, where suspected hoodlums were believed to be operating.



Speaking to journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who addressed the media on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, said the operation underscores the Command's commitment to proactive policing and crime prevention.

According to her, a combined team of officers drawn from various formations of the Command carried out simultaneous raids designed to dismantle criminal enclaves, disrupt violent gangs and deny offenders the opportunity to regroup or launch attacks.


The operation resulted in the arrest of 147 suspects, while officers recovered 250 cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

SP Adebisi disclosed that all the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to determine their individual roles in criminal activities. She added that anyone found culpable would be charged to court.

Commending the professionalism and commitment of the operatives, CP Fatai Tijani reaffirmed that Operation KO S'AYE III would remain a sustained statewide security initiative aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and enhancing public safety.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Command's strategy is built on intelligence-led policing, proactive surveillance and pre-emptive enforcement, rather than waiting for criminal attacks before responding.

He also urged Lagos residents to continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information capable of exposing criminal hideouts, identifying offenders and strengthening security across the state.

With Operation KO S'AYE III gathering momentum, the Lagos State Police Command says it will sustain relentless pressure on criminal gangs until every identified hideout is dismantled, reinforcing its determination to keep Lagos safe for residents, businesses and visitors.

A funeral procession conveying the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine O. Ikwue, has been attacked by suspected kidnappers along the Ososo–Ajaokuta axis of Kogi State, with several mourners reportedly abducted. The late officer, popularly known as "Etume Zero," was being transported to his hometown in Benue State for burial when the armed men ambushed the convoy. According to reports, the attackers abducted several mourners and initially took away the corpse of the deceased officer into the bush alongside the victims.
