CP Bode Ojajuni Receives Ogun NYSC State Coordinator, Reaffirms Commitment to Security and Youth Development


The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, has reaffirmed the Command's unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property, particularly the safety and development of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state.

The Commissioner made the pledge while receiving the Ogun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, and members of her executive management team on a strategic courtesy visit to the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.



The visit was aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the NYSC, reinforcing their shared commitment to the safety of corps members, and deepening collaboration in promoting community-based security across Ogun State.



Leading the delegation, Mrs. Adewuyi expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for the warm reception accorded to her and her team. She commended the cordial relationship between the NYSC and the Ogun State Police Command, particularly applauding the Command's commitment to the welfare, mentorship, and overall development of corps members posted to various police formations in the state.



She also lauded the Command's proactive security measures, which have continued to guarantee the safety and well-being of corps members across all local government areas. Reaffirming the Scheme's commitment to sustaining the partnership, she pledged continued cooperation in intelligence sharing and urged the Command to maintain its relentless efforts toward ensuring a peaceful and secure Ogun State.

Responding, CP Ojajuni warmly welcomed the delegation and reiterated that the constitutional responsibility of the Nigeria Police Force remains the protection of lives and property. He assured the visitors that under his leadership, the Ogun State Police Command would continue to uphold this mandate without compromise for the benefit of all residents, including corps members.

Addressing the corps members present, the Commissioner reflected on his own NYSC experience, describing it as a defining period that significantly shaped his career and personal growth. He encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities offered by the NYSC Scheme by developing character, resilience, and leadership qualities.

He also cautioned them against engaging in cultism, substance abuse, cybercrime, and other criminal activities, stressing that the NYSC uniform does not shield anyone from prosecution if found culpable of any offence. He urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC, their respective states, and Nigeria.

As part of the Command's non-kinetic crime prevention strategy, CP Ojajuni introduced the delegation to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV). He emphasized the initiative's role in combating cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices through youth engagement, value reorientation, and community advocacy.

The Commissioner further disclosed plans to launch a statewide POCACOV campaign aimed at expanding awareness and strengthening the initiative's impact across schools, communities, and other youth-focused institutions in Ogun State.

He also called on the NYSC management to sustain effective supervision and enforcement of discipline among corps members, noting that adherence to established rules and ethical conduct remains essential in raising responsible and law-abiding citizens.

In conclusion, CP Ojajuni recalled the Command's recent swift operational response that resulted in the successful rescue of 18 corps members who were stranded along the Ogbere–Ijebu Ode axis after their vehicle broke down at night. He noted that the corps members were safely evacuated to Ijebu Ode, describing the operation as another demonstration of the Command's commitment to protecting every resident and visitor in Ogun State.

He reaffirmed that the security and safety of all persons within Ogun State will remain the Command's highest priority.

Gunmen Hijack Funeral Convoy, Abduct Mourners Escorting FRSC Deputy Commander's Body, Demand ₦50m Ransom

A funeral procession conveying the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine O. Ikwue, has been attacked by suspected kidnappers along the Ososo–Ajaokuta axis of Kogi State, with several mourners reportedly abducted. The late officer, popularly known as "Etume Zero," was being transported to his hometown in Benue State for burial when the armed men ambushed the convoy. According to reports, the attackers abducted several mourners and initially took away the corpse of the deceased officer into the bush alongside the victims. Citizen journalist and activist Meddy Olotu disclosed that the kidnappers later abandoned the corpse, which was subsequently recovered near Ejule in Kogi State.
