LAGOS — The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to recent armed robbery, killings and cult-related activities in the Ajah axis of the state.
The suspects, identified as Kareem Abiodun, 26; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28; and Alashe Azeez, 32, were arrested during sustained follow-up operations by operatives of the Command.
According to the Police, the operation was launched following investigations into a robbery case, which led operatives to the suspected gang members.
Three locally made pistols, one live ammunition, two battle axes and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine were recovered during the operation.
Preliminary investigations, the Police said, revealed that the suspects are allegedly connected to robbery activities in Ajah, Sangotedo and Ibeju-Lekki.
The Command further stated that the suspects made confessional statements allegedly linking them to armed robbery, murder and cult-related activities.
The four suspects remain in police custody and are assisting investigators as efforts continue to arrest other members of the gang and recover additional exhibits.
The Police said the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their diligence and sustained follow-up efforts.
He directed them to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the state.
CP Fatai also warned cultists, armed robbers and other violent criminals that the Command would continue to pursue them and ensure that those found culpable face justice.
