LSSTF Boosts Nigerian Air Force Operational Capacity with Vehicles, Protective Gear

LSSTF Deepens Security Partnership with Nigerian Air Force Through Strategic Equipment Support

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reinforced its commitment to strengthening Lagos State's security architecture by donating five refurbished operational vehicles, ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests, and raincoats to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), 651 Base Services Group.



The intervention is aimed at enhancing the operational readiness, safety, and welfare of Air Force personnel responsible for protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure across Lagos State.

The donation reflects the Lagos State Government's sustained investment in equipping security agencies with the resources required to tackle evolving security challenges. It also underscores the importance of ensuring that frontline personnel are adequately protected to effectively carry out their constitutional duties while maintaining the peace and stability for which Lagos is known.


Presenting the vehicles and protective equipment, the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, handed over the items to the Commander of the Nigerian Air Force 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Mohammed A. Imam.


Dr. Ogunsan described the presentation as part of the LSSTF's broader strategy to strengthen the operational capabilities of security agencies through continuous logistical support and improved personnel welfare.

Addressing officers and men of the 651 Base Services Group, he commended the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism, discipline, and invaluable contributions to the security of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.


"On behalf of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as well as the Board and Management of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, we sincerely appreciate your unwavering commitment to the security of Lagos. Your contributions are immeasurable, and we remain grateful for your dedication," he said.

Dr. Ogunsan stressed that investing in the welfare and protection of security personnel is critical to building a resilient security system capable of responding swiftly to emerging threats.

"We will continue to encourage and support you because your sacrifices in safeguarding Lagos deserve recognition. This is only the beginning of greater interventions that will further boost your morale and operational effectiveness," he added.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government, through the LSSTF, to complementing the efforts of security agencies by providing strategic operational support that enhances effectiveness, strengthens inter-agency collaboration, and improves service delivery.

Receiving the vehicles and protective equipment, the Commander of the Nigerian Air Force 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Mohammed A. Imam, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their sustained support.

He noted that the donation would significantly improve the safety, mobility, and operational efficiency of Air Force personnel deployed across Lagos State, describing it as another milestone in the enduring partnership between the Trust Fund and security agencies.

As part of the visit, Air Commodore Imam conducted Dr. Ogunsan on a guided tour of the facilities of the 651 Base Services Group, showcasing the unit's operational and support infrastructure while highlighting its contributions to national security.

Dr. Ogunsan was accompanied on the visit by the LSSTF Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis. Also present were senior officers of the Nigerian Air Force, including Squadron Leader John Jeremiah Hibin, Squadron Leader Cosmos Emeka Francis, Flight Lieutenant Moshood Adekanmbi, Flying Officer H. M. Koimi, and other senior officers.

Gunmen Hijack Funeral Convoy, Abduct Mourners Escorting FRSC Deputy Commander's Body, Demand ₦50m Ransom

A funeral procession conveying the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine O. Ikwue, has been attacked by suspected kidnappers along the Ososo–Ajaokuta axis of Kogi State, with several mourners reportedly abducted. The late officer, popularly known as "Etume Zero," was being transported to his hometown in Benue State for burial when the armed men ambushed the convoy. According to reports, the attackers abducted several mourners and initially took away the corpse of the deceased officer into the bush alongside the victims. Citizen journalist and activist Meddy Olotu disclosed that the kidnappers later abandoned the corpse, which was subsequently recovered near Ejule in Kogi State.
