Yobe Police, NSCDC Strengthen Security Partnership as New State Commandant Visits CP Kanfani


The Yobe State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration following a courtesy visit by the newly posted State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC Hassan Owuna, to the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, psc, mspsp, SM.ICM, at the Command Headquarters in Damaturu.

The visit underscored the shared resolve of both security agencies to deepen operational synergy, enhance intelligence sharing, and strengthen coordinated efforts aimed at safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets across Yobe State.

During the meeting, the NSCDC State Commandant expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and reaffirmed his commitment to building on the existing cordial relationship between the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force in the state.

He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint security operations in addressing emerging security threats and ensuring lasting peace and public safety throughout Yobe State.

Responding, CP Kanfani congratulated Commandant Hassan Owuna on his posting and warmly welcomed him to the state. He noted that the prevailing peace and security enjoyed in Yobe can only be sustained through mutual trust, effective coordination, and strong partnerships among all security agencies.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command's unwavering commitment to promoting stronger inter-agency cooperation through intelligence-led policing, joint security operations, capacity-building initiatives, and other coordinated crime prevention strategies designed to combat criminality and protect critical national infrastructure.

He emphasized that no single security agency can effectively tackle today's complex security challenges in isolation, adding that collaboration remains the cornerstone of effective policing and national security.

CP Kanfani also appealed to residents of Yobe State to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely, credible, and actionable information that will aid ongoing efforts to prevent crime and maintain public safety.

He reiterated that security is a collective responsibility and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in building a safer and more secure Yobe State.

Gunmen Hijack Funeral Convoy, Abduct Mourners Escorting FRSC Deputy Commander's Body, Demand ₦50m Ransom

A funeral procession conveying the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine O. Ikwue, has been attacked by suspected kidnappers along the Ososo–Ajaokuta axis of Kogi State, with several mourners reportedly abducted. The late officer, popularly known as "Etume Zero," was being transported to his hometown in Benue State for burial when the armed men ambushed the convoy. According to reports, the attackers abducted several mourners and initially took away the corpse of the deceased officer into the bush alongside the victims. Citizen journalist and activist Meddy Olotu disclosed that the kidnappers later abandoned the corpse, which was subsequently recovered near Ejule in Kogi State.
